I like the panels, I both like and dislike

I like the panels, I both like and dislike the folding aspects of the 500 saga. First I like that you can just open the case set it out and plug in to the generator but you need to get an extension to have freedom to keep your panels out side and your generators inside. The other is that i have found that they produce better when flat not in the angel of an accordian, and that being on a levitated angle also provides more watts then on the ground. So!! Having a panel rack to hold all 6 panels flat and a legs to support the system on both ends for East and west angles would be a great addition to this set. And maybe a sun chasing system for set and leave for the day systems. But all in all if you have the sun the 6 panels produce just under 500watts like 80 watts per panel that here in Washington state so there you go.

Hurricane Prep

We recently bought the Jackery 3600 Plus + Battery Pack + SolarSaga 500 X.

Everything was delivered quickly by a third party delivery driver who lifted everything out of the back of her small SUV which was very impressive. And, she was kind enough to help me bring it into our house.

Fortunately, the wheels and handle provide the portability needed when we lose power. We also purchased an additional battery.

Now, our system is charged and ready for hurricane season and Mother Nature provides plenty of sunshine in Florida.

The Solar Panels are nice. But, connecting them took an hour and sweat equity so plan accordingly.

As a side note, we bought a Jackery Explorer 300 several years ago for camping and have incorporated it into daily outdoor life to run a large fan and small electronics. Our Solar Saga 60 works in an emergency.

Due to our experience with quality, quiet, and ease of use we decided to expand our Jackery family. Thanks Jackery!

Solid Performer with Some Considerations

The SolarSaga 500X is great solar panel, delivering close to its advertised wattage in good solar conditions. It’s bifacial, but the front side generates about 15% more power than the rear, so proper orientation toward the sun is important for optimal performance.

Interestingly, I’ve had better results with the W-shaped setup, angled off the ground, compared to the recommended M-shaped setup on the ground. In good solar conditions, I’ve reached up to 475W, staying above 300W most of the day with only one adjustment. It’s worth noting that bright sunlight doesn’t always translate to ideal solar output, especially with pollution. In fact, I recorded 930W from two panels even with slight cloud cover, as shown in the attached images.

The panel feels slightly fragile, though the build quality seems solid overall. It’s on the pricey side, but sales do happen occasionally, so it’s worth waiting for a deal

Almost off grid.

Just bought the 500x solar panel to add to my 5200 Genny, charging like crazy, love it, wish I would have done this sooner. Actually I'm going to add a second panel to charge it faster. Thanks jackery!

3000 pro

I purchased the 3000 pro several years ago. It has worked great for power outages. Today we tried something new. I am having hurricane shutters installed on my windows. There was no outlet available in the area of my backyard windows. The crew is using the 3000. They are happy, and I am getting my shutters in time for the peak of the storm season!

unable to get full 500 watts

I have been using 2 of the solarsaga 500 X solar panels and running test.
I set one up using the hinges and the other without using the hinges and have found it can only produce around 300 watts when using the hinges. This is basically because the panels are at 45-degree angle so it the sun is as a 45-degree angle you will lose half the wattage. Further testing will be done to see how they perform with the sun at maximum elevation.
The other set of panels I just placed on the ground and the panels produced around 320 watts.
Further testing will be done to see how they perform with the sun at maximum elevation. It was a bit overcast because of smoke so I will be running more tests later to see if there is any improvement.

OnTrac has lost track of my orders

I’ve been a loyal customer to Jackery for a long time. I’ve always had issues when it comes to shipping. OnTrac is their preferred shipping partner and every order I’ve placed has had issues. My solar panels ended up here in my city then the next day shipped to the state away then it takes 2 days to sort it out. I ordered a 3600 to beat the heatwave we were anticipating here to run my air conditioner. It took 3 and a half weeks to be delivered. Almost 2 weeks after the heatwave. Thanks to Jackery I had to miss work and was very sick thanks to Jackery and OnTrac. They promised me they would ship my solar panels with FedEx but guess who shipped it… you guessed it Lost track. So if you plan on ordering from Jackery expect it a week or two past the 2-5 days they guarantee. Oh and I asked for compensation and Jackery offered me $50 refunded on a $1,700 order. Jeez thanks Jackery. I doubt my review will make them reflect on using OnTrac but when you use a cheap shipping service expect livid customers

It doesn’t collect a great percentage of solar

It doesn’t collect a great percentage of solar energy on its own, the generator always says 99.9 hours until full. At most I have seen it peak at 315 but it’s usually around 165.

Solar Saga 500 stopped delivering more that 30W after about 90 days. Warranty is imposible to use.

Customer service is very difficult and keeps adding repetitive tasks. First, a reset. second, a movie. Then, even thought the movie clearly showed they were right sude up, another iteration to aske am and re-0validate they are right side up. Then, they agreed something is wrong. I was asked to check each of 6 panels separately to find which is bad and they would send me new panels. However, when I reported all the panels seemed "bad" they said they needed the s/n to process the warranty but that is not printed anywhere on the panels. I aked them what the s/n on the order was, but Jackery says they have no record of it to give me from my order so why make it a condition? They told me to check the shipping box from January which I told them was long gone. Another iteration and they tell me I need to ship my panels back and when thy get them I will finally get new panels. However, these panels are huge and I already told them I had no box so I can not send them.

The panels are crappy anyway, heed the technical comments from other 1 star reviews and do NOT buy this product. I am sorry that I did. They broke very fast under careful use and the warranty is not effective. Customer service / support is also closed evenings and weekends making support highly unavailable and each iteration has to be run by "the engineer" whom is never present.

Still waiting...

Three weeks ago I ordered a new set of 500x panels and the box was missing the charge cable and everything to assemble the panels. After I requested them a few times the accessories finally arrived but, three weeks later, still no cable. I've requested it more than 4 times now. The last agent I asked for it stopped answering emails. I'm calling today. Wish me luck!
