1. Safe and Reliable Power Switching Between Utility and Generator
The Pro/Tran® 2 Manual Transfer Switch allows you to safely select either generator (GEN) or utility (LINE) power for connected branch circuits. The double-throw action of the selector switches prevents feeding generator power back to the utility and conversely prevents feeding utility power to the generator, ensuring safe operation during power outages.

2. Built-in Circuit Breaker Protection for Each Transfer Circuit
Each transfer switch circuit comes with a 1-inch interchangeable circuit breaker that protects the branch circuit when the selector switch is in the GEN position. In the LINE position, each branch circuit is protected by the breaker in the load center. Circuit breakers can be easily changed in the field, with positions A and B supporting up to 30-amp breakers and all other positions supporting 15- or 20-amp breakers.

3. Flexible Configuration for 120V and 240V Circuits
Adjacent circuit selector switches can be paired with handle ties to support double-pole 240-volt circuits or multi-wire branch circuits. Handle ties are included and can be removed for 120-volt-only installations or added for additional 240-volt/multi-wire circuits, giving you configuration flexibility to match your home's electrical needs.

4. Analog Wattmeters for Load Monitoring
Models with suffix A and C include analog wattmeters that display the total load on each side of the generator when generator power is being used. The left meter measures loads on circuits A, C, and E (plus additional circuits on larger models), while the right meter measures loads on circuits B, D, and F. This helps users balance loads and avoid overloading the generator.

5. Broad Compatibility with Generator and Panel Configurations
The transfer switch is designed for use with portable generators that have a floating neutral (ground and neutral not bonded) configuration. It is compatible with branch circuits protected by AFCI or GFCI breakers, though protection is bypassed in the GEN position—appropriate breakers can be installed in the transfer switch to maintain protection during generator use. The switch supports a wide range of common household appliances as referenced in the included wattage requirement chart.
