Choose a Portable Power Station for Camping

Portable power stations provide quiet, fuel-free power for lights, phones, cameras, laptops, fans, and portable coolers. For short camping trips and small devices, consider a compact model with 300–2,400W of output and 288–2,048Wh of capacity. Choose a larger capacity if you need to run a refrigerator, cooking appliance, or multiple devices for longer.

Explorer 300D keeps phones, cameras and USB-powered lights charged through its USB and DC ports. For camping gear with a household plug, HomePower 1000 Plus v2 offers AC outlets and the option to add a battery for longer use.

Choose a Portable Power Station for RVs and Road Trips

A portable power station can support RV refrigerators, lights, electronics, coffee makers, microwaves, and other travel essentials. For most RV and road-trip needs, consider 1,800–2,400W of output and 1,536–2,048Wh of capacity, depending on appliance wattage, trip length, and access to solar or vehicle charging.

Prefer to travel with one power station? Explorer 2000 v2 gives you 2042Wh in one unit to pack. For longer stays away from an outlet, HomePower 2000 Plus v2 lets you add a Battery Pack 2000 Plus v2 later. You get more time between charges, with an extra battery to make room for in your RV.

Choose a Portable Power Station for Home Backup

Portable power stations can keep refrigerators, Wi-Fi routers, lights, televisions, and other essential devices running during an outage. For essential home backup, consider a model with at least 3,600–7,200W of output and 3,072–5,040Wh of capacity. Higher-output, expandable systems are better for multiple appliances, high-wattage loads, or extended outages.

For everyday 120V appliances at home, HomePower 3600 Plus has wheels and a handle so you can roll it to where you need backup power. Need a 240V outlet? HomePower 3600 Pro Max provides one in a single unit, with up to 4000W at 240V. Each 120V outlet is rated for up to 2000W.

How Much Power do You Need?

Start with what you want to plug in and how long you want to use it. Here’s a simple example for a laptop, lights and Wi-Fi.
Image

A laptop, lights and Wi-Fi

A few hours of work, light for the evening and Wi-Fi through the day might look like this:

  • Laptop: 60W × 3 hours = 180Wh
  • Lights: 20W × 4 hours = 80Wh
  • Wi-Fi router: 10W × 8 hours = 80Wh

90W — Power needed with all three switched on

340Wh — Energy used over the hours above

These are example amounts, so your devices may use more or less. The battery also uses some energy to deliver power to your devices.

Will it run your devices?

Watts (W) tell you how much power a station can deliver at once. The three devices in this example need 90W when used together. A USB-C laptop can use a compatible USB-C port; household plugs need AC outlets. Fridges and pumps also need a brief burst of extra power to start, so their starting watts matter too.

How long do you want to use them?

Watt-hours (Wh) tell you how much energy a battery stores. The example uses 340Wh over the day. Allow extra capacity for the energy the power station uses itself and when supplying AC power. For two days without recharging, the devices would need 680Wh before that allowance.

Will it run your devices?

HomePower 1000 Plus v2 gives you 1024Wh and household AC outlets for this mix of devices. For phones, cameras and USB-powered lights, Explorer 300D offers a 288Wh battery with USB and DC ports. For a fridge that switches on and off, a plug-in energy meter can show how much energy it uses over a day.

Just the Power Station, or a Kit?

Start with HomePower 1000 Plus v2 on its own, add a battery for more time between charges, or add solar panels to recharge outdoors.
Want more capacity in a single unit? Explorer 2000 v2 stores 2042Wh and delivers 2200W at 120V. The HomePower 1000 Plus v2 battery bundle gives you more stored energy—3072Wh—with two units to carry and 1800W of AC output.

Want an extra battery and solar panels? This kit pairs HomePower 1000 Plus v2 with Battery Pack 2000 Plus v2 and two SolarSaga 200W panels. You get 3072Wh of storage plus a way to recharge in the sun. Allow room for both units and a sunny spot to unfold the panels.

Recharging

At Home, At a Stop or In the Sun.

With Explorer 2000 v2, you can charge from a wall outlet before leaving, use a 12V vehicle connection at a stop, or set up solar panels outdoors.
Solar charging changes with the weather and where you place the panels. Shade, temperature and panel angle affect how much power reaches the battery. The 400W limit is what Explorer 2000 v2 can accept; the pictured two-panel kit has a combined 200W rating. Other models and charging modes have their own charging times.

A Few Appliances or Your Home’s Circuits?

For lamps, Wi-Fi or a fridge, you can plug appliances directly into a suitable power station. Supplying your home’s circuits needs a transfer switch and an electrician’s installation.
HomePower 3600 Plus

Keep the appliances you need close by

Set the power station near the appliances you want to keep using, with the ventilation space shown in its manual. Household plugs connect to its AC outlets. For a fridge, allow for the extra power it draws when the compressor starts.

  • 120V essentials: HomePower 3600 Plus provides 3600W continuous output from one unit. Wheels and a handle help you move it to a planned backup spot.
  • A compatible 240V appliance: HomePower 3600 Pro Max supplies 4000W at 240V from one unit. Its 120V outlets have a separate limit of up to 2000W per outlet.

Compare the home backup models ↑

Use backup power through your home’s wiring.

A transfer switch connects a compatible power station to selected home circuits. An electrician can help you choose which rooms and appliances to back up, fit the right equipment and explain how to switch over during an outage.

HomePower 3600 Pro Max has a kit with a Manual Transfer Switch for switching over by hand. Explorer 5000 Plus is available with a Smart Transfer Switch and supplies up to 7200W at 240V. Your electrician can help you choose the kit for the circuits you want to keep running.

Already considering HomePower 3600 Plus? Two units connected with a Jackery Connector provide 240V. Solar panels are the charging source while the units work together in this mode, so allow a sunny spot to set them up.

FAQs

  • What size portable power station do I need?

Start with the devices you want to use together. Their combined watts tell you the output you need; a fridge or pump also needs extra power to start. Then think about how long you’ll use them. A 60W laptop used for three hours needs 180Wh of energy. Add the other devices in the same way, with extra battery capacity for the energy the power station uses itself. A plug-in energy meter is useful for appliances that switch on and off.

See the laptop, lights and Wi-Fi example

  • How long will a portable power station run my devices?

A larger battery gives you more time with the same devices. For a rough estimate, divide the energy available to your devices, in Wh, by their average power use, in W. Allow for the energy the power station uses itself and when supplying AC power. A fridge also switches on and off throughout the day, so its average use is more helpful than its running watts alone. Our model-specific runtime examples are a useful starting point.

  • Can a portable power station run a refrigerator?

Yes, with a power station that has the right outlet and enough power to start and run your fridge. The brief surge when the compressor starts can be higher than its normal running power. For how long it will last, use the fridge’s daily energy use from its label or a plug-in energy meter. Temperature settings and how often you open the door affect that figure. More battery capacity gives the same fridge more time between recharges.

  • What is the difference between a power station and a solar generator?

A solar generator is a power station paired with compatible solar panels. The power station stores the energy and powers your devices; the panels give you a way to recharge it in daylight. The power station alone suits regular access to a wall outlet. A solar kit adds an outdoor charging option for stops with sunshine and room to set up the panels. The selected kit lists the panels, batteries and cables included.

See what comes in each kit

  • Do I need solar panels, and will the power station work at night?

You can use a charged power station at night, and solar panels are optional. Explorer 2000 v2 also charges from a wall outlet or a compatible 12V vehicle connection with the appropriate cable. Solar panels recharge the battery during daylight; shade, weather and placement affect how much power they provide. Choose panels listed as compatible with your model so the connectors and charging limits match.

  • Can I add another battery later?

Yes. HomePower 1000 Plus v2 and HomePower 2000 Plus v2 both work with Battery Pack 2000 Plus v2, so you can start with the power station and add more storage later. Explorer 2000 v2 offers 2042Wh of built-in storage in one unit.

An extra battery gives you more time between charges. The power station’s output rating still determines which appliances you can run together. When shopping for a pack, use the full model name, including “v2,” and check the supported number of packs and connecting cable.

  • How quickly can I recharge it?

For Explorer 2000 v2, a full wall charge takes about 1.7 hours in Emergency Super Charge mode, enabled in the Jackery app. Normal charging uses a different setting. When comparing models, look for the same charging method and a full 0–100% charge, since a partial-charge figure describes a shorter top-up. Solar times also depend on the panels, available sunlight and temperature.

See Explorer 2000 v2 charging options

  • Which models can supply 240V power?

HomePower 3600 Pro Max and Explorer 5000 Plus both provide 240V from one unit. HomePower 3600 Pro Max delivers up to 4000W at 240V, with a separate limit of up to 2000W per 120V outlet. Use the rating for the outlet your appliance plugs into; several 120V devices also need to fit the model’s combined-output limits.

HomePower 3600 Plus provides 120V on its own. For 240V, the Double Kit pairs two units with a Jackery Connector and delivers up to 7200W. Solar panels are the charging source for this paired 240V setup.

For backup through your home’s wiring, you’ll also need compatible transfer equipment installed by an electrician. The home connection guide explains the manual and Smart Transfer Switch options.

  • What should I know before ordering?

On the product page, select the exact model and kit you want. The included-items list shows which panels, batteries and cables come with it. Price, availability, delivery and warranty details apply to that selection, including whether the unit is new or refurbished.

For example, Explorer 1000 v2 (Refurbished) has a 6-month warranty. HomePower 3600 Plus bought on Jackery.com has a 3-year warranty plus a free 2-year extension that activates automatically. Delivery and return details are shown for your product and location.

Eligible orders placed on our website have a 30-day return window starting when you receive them. Contact us for return authorization before sending an item back. For a change-of-mind return, shipping and handling costs are deducted from the refund. We cover return shipping for product defects, shipping delays or package damage. A restocking fee applies if an item is returned outside its original condition. Made-to-order and customer-branded items are excluded from returns. See our Service Policy for the full terms.
