While our current blog comment system doesn't allow for direct replies, our customer service team will address comments and questions promptly via email. Additionally, we'll compile the most frequently asked questions and provide comprehensive answers at the end of the blog post.

Comment: How do I connect two Jackery 5000 Plus systems into my main panel (via interlocked breaker) without using the Smart Home Panel?

Reply: Hey. You can connect up to 2*Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus Portable Power Station to the home's electricity panel. However, it is not recommended to connect them without using the Jackery Smart Transfer Switch. The Smart Transfer Switch is designed to safely manage dual-unit setups and provide circuit protection.

Comment: Can I use the Jackery Explorer 3000 to supply the electricity for 1 bedroom apartment, a laundry room, and 16 LED flood parking lot lights?

Reply: Yes. The Jackery HomePower 3000 can run many appliances, but the key factor is total wattage demand. It can power bedroom’s basic lights and electronics, a washer/dryer, and multiple floodlights, but not all at once. You need to add up the wattage of all appliances you plan to run at once, and make sure it is below 3600W for safe charging.

Comment: I purchased a house that already has a transfer switch installed. I have a Jackery 2000 Plus. Will I be able to use the existing transfer switch with my Jackery and what type of cable do I need?

Reply: We do not recommend using third-party transfer switches with the Jackery Solar Generators because of compatibility issues.

Comment: Could you explain the Explorer 2000 Plus Double Kit (6000W/240V/4kWh) a bit more. Does it have a 240VAC outlet on it? Do you need the Transfer Switch to connect it to the house? In other words, how do I connect my 240VAC appliance to the Jackery 240VAC source.

Reply: When two Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Portable Power Stations are paired in parallel, they can provide 240V/6000W output. Once connected in parallel, you only need to plug in your appliances to the output ports of the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Double Kit and start powering them.

Comment: Does my Explorer 2000 Plus come with the power cord for connecting to the transfer kit?

Reply: The Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Portable Power Station by itself includes standard charging and AC cables, but not the transfer switch cord. If you purchase the transfer switch bundle, that cord is included. Otherwise, you’ll need to get the correct Jackery-to-transfer switch cable separately.

Comment: Our breaker box is on the outside of our house (I don’t know why—it’s a 1956 ranch). We are in hot, humid, Brunswick, GA. Is it even possible to use the Jackery to back up the whole home, or should we just use it as a generator indoors for certain items should there be a power outage?

Reply: Yes, if you need to back up your whole home without any installation, you can consider the Jackery Whole-Home Backup Kit 5000 Plus (20kWh). It has a massive battery capacity and can power multiple appliances at once. You can check the product page here.

Comment: If I install a transfer switch next to my panel, can I run the wire from the transfer switch through my attic so it plugs into the unit in the back of the house where the solar panels would be? The total length of the wire would be approximately 75 ft.

Reply: A 75-foot run is possible, but it requires the proper wire gauge to prevent voltage drop and overheating. The longer the run, the thicker the wire should be. An electrician can size the cable correctly and make sure it meets code. This way, you can safely locate the Jackery and panels at the back of your house while the switch remains by the panel.

Comment: How much does the transfer switch cost if bought separately?

Reply: Jackery Manual Transfer Switch is usually sold as part of a bundle with the compatible solar generators rather than as a standalone accessory.

Comment: Does the transfer switch have to be next to the fuse box panel? I’d be using the generator to power a portable AC in the smallest room/bathroom at the back as well as a chest freezer and my refrigerator. Can it be put in the back courtyard? Is it weather safe for under a porch roof? Same with the solar panels…I would put them in the back courtyard.

Reply: Yes, the transfer switch must be installed next to your main panel indoors. The Jackery Portable Power Station itself also needs to stay indoors, in a cool, dry place. Jackery SolarSaga Solar Panels, however, can absolutely be placed outdoors in the courtyard as long as they have sun exposure.

Comment: I have a house electrical panel outside, the house was built in December 2001. I read the instruction to connect solar generator to the wall electrical panel on your website, but the panel is different, of course. Do I need to change out the electrical panel box completely to the same exact one shown in the instruction first?

Reply: No, you don’t need to replace your entire panel. The panel shown in Jackery’s instructions is just an example. Most modern breaker panels, including those from 2001, can be connected with a transfer switch. The important part is that the switch is installed according to code.

Comment: Can I use the 2000 Plus to supply electricity to my house in France with your technology and the French electrical system?

Reply: Jackery products sold in the US are built for 120V/60Hz systems. France runs on 230V/50Hz, so a US-model Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus won’t directly integrate with your home grid there. Jackery does sell EU-specific versions of the generators, which are the safe option for use in France.

Comment: My house has a hot air propane furnace. Will the 3000 be enough to power it up ?

Reply: Hey, yes! Any hot air propane furnace that consumes less than 3000W can easily be charged with the Explorer 3000 Pro. Assuming your hot air propane furnace uses anywhere around 500 - 700 watts of electricity, you can easily power it for 3 - 5 hours.

Comment: Do you installed transfer switch ? what the best size generator to run a frig, a/c, lights ? Is there a person to consult with ? How long does a generator last and is it re-furnishable

Reply: Hey. Unfortunately, we don't install transfer switches, but this guide is a detailed user manual you can refer to while installing. Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus is a great choice if you want to run the fridge (400W), AC (1000W), and lights (20W) simultaneously.

Comment: I understand I can run my solar power at the same time as I have power coming from the utility company. Is this correct? Can I plug my solar battery into a home outlet to recharge my batteries with utility power at the same time I use Jackery products to run things that take more power to run? Ex: Can I use utility power to run my lights and TVs and use solar power (Jackery batteries) to run my microwaves, A/C and freezers?

Reply: Yes. You can use Jackery with utility power simultaneously by installing the transfer switch.

Comment: Would this power my well pump?

Reply: Most well pumps operate at 220-240 volts. In Jackery, you can choose this 240V Jackery product - Explorer 5000 Plus to run your well pump. It can run your well pump for 1 to 4 hours, depending on the wattage of the pump.

Comment: Bought 2000 plus 200 watt panels &1-100 watt, can you use electricity & solar same time to run other things

Reply: Yes. Jackery products support the pass-through charging, which means you can recharge the electrical appliances while solar charging the power station.

Comment: Any plans to make an automated switchgear (6 circuit) for the Jackery 3000 Pro for whole house use? I love my Jackery 1000 and I’ve had to use it several times to run my home refrigerator during short power outages. I’d like to upgrade to the 3000 Pro but I want it switch over automatically if I’m away on travel.

Reply: Yes. We plan to release this automated switch later this year.

Comment: I have an RV trailer that requires 30 Amp of power to run it. What would I need to get? Would this power my well pump?

Reply: A 25-amp source can easily power a 30-amp RV trailer. In this case, you can choose between a Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro or a Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus with TT-30 connectors.

If you want to charge a well pump that operates at 240V, you would need to combine two Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus Portable Power Stations in parallel (which is Explorer 2000 Plus Double Kit (6000W/240V/4kWh)). You can also buy 2*Jackery SolarSaga 200W Solar Panels to charge the portable power station when off grid.

Comment: Do you offer an automatic transfer switch for the Jackery 5000 Plus that allows 120 AND 240 vac appliances to run?

Reply: Yes. Firstly, Jackery 5000 Plus supports both 120V and 240V output. Secondly, you can find the automatic transfer switch bundle here.
